Are You a Prince, Princess or Frog?

We all want to be our best selves; some of us wear make-up to achieve flawless skin, get fancy hairdos, wear lavish clothes. But what if we could exist with a beauty filter on all day? Great idea, right?

It’s fun to put on the princess filter when you take a selfie or give yourself a beautiful glow with perfect skin and great hair and get lost in the unrealistic appearances you can achieve. Heck, I crack myself up with the voices I can create and the looks I can pull off, but when your thoughts are consumed with your appearance, you find you are never satisfied with how you look, what you are wearing, and so many other aspects of your life you may be a perfectionist.

The need to achieve perfection isn’t a new concept. However, studies show that excessive perfectionism actually causes overwhelm, stress and can wreak havoc on relationships. In addition, extreme perfectionism can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, eating disorders, sleep disruption, and many other negative psychological behaviors.

If you are focused on what others think of you and base all your decisions on their opinion, remember people have the attention span of a fruit fly, so even if they are judging you (and we are all guilty of it), what not give them something to talk about and be the real you. Be yourself because, believe it or not, even our idols aren’t perfect when no one is looking and the cameras are off.
